Tesla's German factory has become the largest industrial employer in Berlin
July 11 - Tesla's German plant is already the largest industrial employer in the Berlin area, and Tesla plans a 6 percent pay raise for the plant's employees, according to German media outlet Tagesspiegel.
Tesla's German plant has grown in size over the past few months, with the company employing about 5,000 people so far, INSIDEEVs reports. When the plant reaches full capacity in the future, Tesla expects it will employ 12,000 people, INSIDEEVs said, adding that although the plant only opened in March of this year, it currently produces about 1,000 cars a week. Meanwhile, INSIDEEVs predicts that the plant could produce about 3,000 cars a week by the end of this year. And when Tesla invested billions in the plant, Tesla predicted that its eventual annual capacity would reach 500,000 vehicles. However, in order to upgrade the German factory and establish a shift system, Tesla will close the factory for 10 days next week.
For now, Tesla's German plant only produces the Model Y, and the Model 3 will be produced there in the future, but it's not certain if the plant will produce the Model S and Model X. Tesla has yet to release new versions of the Model S and Model Y in Europe, and it doesn't show an estimated delivery time for the two vehicles on its European website.
IT House has learned that Tesla produced 258,580 vehicles in the second quarter. In the first quarter, the company produced 305,407 vehicles. Combined, Tesla produced 563,987 electric cars in the first half of 2022 and is expected to deliver more than 1 million cars this year. It's worth noting that most of the cars Tesla has produced this year have come from Tesla's Shanghai factory. In the last month alone, the Shanghai plant produced more than 70,000 vehicles.
