Tesla's Berlin Factory Can Only Produce The Model Y In Black And White At The Moment
July 13 - Tesla's new Berlin mega-factory can only produce the Model Y in black or white due to capacity constraints, and European customers who want to order the Model Y in other colors will have to wait until March next year for delivery.
According to the report, European customers who want to order a different color Model Y will have to wait until March 2023 at the earliest to deliver the electric car from the Shanghai super factory, and if Tesla customers choose to order a black or white Model Y, it is expected to be delivered in October of this year.
The Tesla Model Y goes into production at the Berlin plant in March 2022, but it's unclear if it's been a black or white only option from the start, or if it's a recent new change.
Notably, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had promised in 2020 that "the paint booth at the Berlin factory will be the most advanced in the world and will have multiple layers of stunning colors."
