Tesla Motors Hits Pause Button In 2022 As Musk Turns To Robotics
Tesla boss Elon Musk said on an earnings call that Tesla will not launch any new models in 2022. It may be a year of no expectations for car fans. But Musk won't stand still. At the heart of autonomous driving is artificial intelligence energy, and previously at Tesla AI Day, Elon Musk said the company could launch a prototype humanoid robot, the Tesla Robot, sometime next year.
As the year began, he told investors on Tesla's earnings call that his emerging robotics program "has the potential to be more important over time than the car business. They will be the most important work for Tesla this year. Musk said at the event last August that the Tesla Bot would use the same artificial intelligence (AI) system as Tesla's cars, but no prototypes have been built yet.
At a conference last year, people were fascinated by a man in a Tesla robot uniform. "The Tesla robot will be real," Musk said. Musk detailed some of the tasks the robot will be able to perform, including running grocery stores, picking up household items and other daily instructions.
Musk said that while there is "no shortage of labor" in the future, manual labor will be "an option. Robots are increasingly used in factories around the world, and according to the International Federation of Robotics, manufacturing now employs an average of 126 robots for every 10,000 employees.
The Tesla robot is 1.72 meters tall and weighs 56.6 kg. The robot has a screen on its face to display useful information. In addition, it will have human-level hands. The limbs are operated using 40 electromechanical actuators, there are two feet, and force feedback sensing for balance and agility.
Musk has spoken publicly about his fears of runaway AI, saying that Tesla robots "are friendly," but that Tesla designed them on a "mechanical level" so that "you can run away from it and probably It's possible to subdue it." These robots will be designed to handle "unsafe, repetitive or boring tasks.
The Tesla robot will also make use of some of the artificial intelligence devices used in the company's cars. The Autopilot camera will act as the vision of the Tesla robot, while the fully self-driving computer will act as the robot's internal organs, so that the robot is expected to function as a productive member of the family. The robot is using a multi-camera video neural network, the same as detailed during the company's AI event. In addition, neural network planning, labeling, simulation and tools will be used to help the Tesla robot operate effectively and efficiently while performing tasks accurately.
The progress of any technology really requires constant progress and self-denial. To this day, there are still big gaps between robots and the robots we imagine, but these gaps are narrowing little by little ...... We'll see if Musk can create a miracle here and push the R&D process of robots.
