Tesla Berlin Superfactory Plans To Produce 3,000 Model Y's Per Week Starting In October?
July 28, according to media reports, Tesla's Berlin superfactory plans to produce 3,000 Model Y units per week starting in October.
It is reported that the Berlin superfactory is Tesla's fourth superfactory, which was inaugurated on March 22 this year and currently only produces Model Y.
In June this year, the factory reached 1,000 units per week for the first time, a major milestone since it started production in March, which means that the factory's monthly production capacity has exceeded 4,000 units.
In order to increase production, Tesla's Berlin superfactory suspended car production for 12 days between July 11 and July 22 of this year to make upgrades.
In a regulatory filing on July 25, Tesla disclosed that the company has increased its capital expenditure plan by $1 billion to $6 billion to $8 billion as it looks to increase production at its new plants in Texas and Berlin.
During last week's earnings call, Drew Bagrino, Tesla's senior vice president of powertrain and energy engineering, noted that the Berlin superfactory could reach 5,000 units per week by the end of this year.
Previously, Tesla had also said it hoped to ramp up production at the Berlin superfactory to 5,000 to 10,000 units per week by the end of this year.
Tesla noted that over time, the Berlin superfactory should be able to reach an annual production capacity of about 500,000 units, thus meeting the demand for all-electric crossovers in the region.
